well a good mayority of people didnt like greninja when it was first seen. people just tend to defend it because of getting familiar with the design, as there are faults with it, its not that its bad, its not, but it also doesnt build upon things that were in the design before, thus making it weird for many people. be honest at first almost everyone must have thought that the tongue being like that was somewhat weird, i love greninja and i myself think i really liked frogadier better at first. its just that when you use it and when its more exposed to people like with the anime or smash, it becomes familiar and well liked.
