Will we get a cheaper - mobile only version of switch without Dock with gen8? Same as we got 2ds with Pokémon xy? We can be sure that Game freak won't deliver a game that will look good on big screen anyway

Not really. Like there are people that don't even have a TV at home. Dock can be sold separately. You could sya the same about taking out 3d from 3ds and making 2ds

Removing the dock and the rails to remove the joycons wouldn't reduce the price much at all, much of the price comes from it being portable, not from it having a USB port.

You mean cross-plats? Meh, the Switch is pretty much just a Nintendo and indies machine with the occasional Squeenix/Bamco/Sega/etc game. I think that's fine for it, I doubt most of the Switch's target audience cares that much about it not being able to run the next GTA or whatever, and those that do probably already own a gaming PC/Xbox/Playstation for it anyways.

I don't think there will be a ps5 of xboxwhatever till at least 2025. Games are just starting to harness the consoles they got. And the AAA games industry is currently bleeding out.
If anything, the next gen of consoles will be ps4X or something, which would work like the NEW3ds. A super version of the console that would be exclusive to a hand full of games.

The reason why the 3DS took off was because it offered better resolution and hardware to the DS

The Switch does not even play 3DS/DS games and combine it with garbage Pokemon game releases Pokemonfags aren't excited at all

Switch shills try to argue otherwise but Pokemonfags bought handhelds solely for Pokemon, some would buy a couple of games here and there but Pokemon was always the driving force and if Pokemon games are shit why waste $300?

No, because Nintendo aren't going to hard-lock everyone's joy-cons out from working with the newer Switch at $90 a pop. They're not going to push a portable-only model, when they still see the Switch as a home console that goes mobile and they absolutely won't sell dockless Switches in the west as the West are cocksuckers for big-ass, widescreen tellies. The most they'll do is upgrade the parts inside to newer tech and improve the unit's security, but a poorfag-only model is not going to happen, particularly when it's printing money for them att $300 a pop.

Probably just a pack without the dock. Joy-cons are very important and Nintendo wants people to have a second Switch. Switch functions are way more important than 3D. The 2DS was for kids that didn't use the 3D at all. Joy cons are a core aspect of games such as Mario Party or Let's Go.

We will probably get a lighter Switch in a dockless bundle

There is a Switch emulator, we're seeing a repeat of Gen 3.

Nobody cared about Ruby/Sapphire but those who wanted to play it without forking over shekels for a GBA used VisualboyAdvance.

Those of us who want to play Gen 8 and are smart enough not to give Nintendo and Gamefreak money will just emulate.

Well yeah, I know this is simplistic but the dock adds like an extra 80 bucks I think. Release a dockless version for 220 and boom theres your cheaper version and if they want the dock its sold separately anyway so everybody wins.

Switch Homebrew can run DS emulators (not very quickly, mind you) and if you use linux on it you can use faster emulators that are compatible with linux.

the cost of production is barely a few dollars
in order to produce docks for sale on their own, they need to price them at a profitable point
not many people are buying extra docks, so to rationalize production they need to price higher for less sales

the actual cost to include a dock with a switch is the cheapest part of the switch. even the joy cons are more expensive
