This game disguises itself as a good game while actually being really underwhelming even to new players.

A few things I would say

Definitely not. RBY had very, very little story and LGPE adds, like, three cutscenes. It has less story than any core game since RBY, even less story than FRLG. My biggest criticism of the game is how empty and bland Kanto feels after other recent games feel so detailed and full.

They're mixed. Seeing Pokémon in the overworld is actually quite neat and useful, but the motion controls are pretty bad, especially in docked mode, and it's very, VERY luck based.

It can be quite a fun game if you keep your expectations in check or if you haven't played Pokémon outside of Go, though.

The catching mechanics are anything but beautiful.
The Switch has really janky motion controls, maybe if you played in Handheld it'd be more fun, but then you'd look like an idiot tilting your tablet.

Fun game though.
