Development isn't going as smoothly as Game Freak had hoped. Around May, they'll announce that Gen 8 has been delayed to late 2020.

Save them for February 2021 desu. Make them release on Pokemon's 25th anniversary. A much bigger deal than the 20th, because it represents a quarter-century.

I can wait 2 years without a Pokemon game if it turns out to be the best one they've ever made.

I just want some side games again. I can handle waiting 2 more years for the perfect Pokemon game, but it needs to be filled with more side games like mystery dungeon or ranger

Reminder that there were rumors of Plus and Minus many years ago before the Switch was a thing, meaning Gen 8 was in development for long time.

Pokemon basically can't get delayed anymore because of it's mass-media franchise status. Delaying the game is like tossing a nail strip in front of the entire franchise leading to various other outlets to get fucked over. In the end that is Pokemon's greatest curse too.

That's a bad example because the DNF we got had basically nothing to do with the original and only used the name for marketing.

Anon, DNF kept getting scrapped and restarted to try and keep up with industry trends, instead of doing more of the same as what it did. It's entirely relevant for this reason, it was delayed to keep pace with the Halo-led FPS shooters and suffered horribly because of it, in essence being a bad game after also being a delayed game.
