We went from 2 year localization delays and trading with link cables with your buddies, to 9 month delays with wireless adapters, to 6 month delays with DS wifi communcation, to simultaneous release with everyone playing on the same day.
SM's trailer was 6 minutes. First half was a compilation video showing people around the world playing each generation in different languages. Then we got the SM reveal of the logos and it being compatible with 9 languages as opposed to 7. Finally we got Gen 1 VC news since they were released on the same day, and information that both SM and Gen 1 VC were compatible with Bank.
This direct won't need to feature a compilation of GF's achievements (XY), or a 20th anniversary montage (SM). We should get, at the very least, a 2 minute trailer showing off these new games in action.
