It undeniably had some of the most memorable and characterized mons. I know some people had issues with them dripfeeding basically every single alola mon but eveeyry single one getting a page with what were basically a few paragraphs long pokedex entries gave every single one way more individual personality and helped sell Alola as a real ecosystem of living creatures. Even if I don't love all of them there's not a single one I genuinely dislike.

I was disappointed in what Sun and Moon did. I appreciate that they wanted to to do something different, but it isn't different enough. You're still just faffing about doing nothing for forever and the only interesting thing that happens is the villain climax. I expected trials to be an entirely different experience, but it isn't. I do not think real gyms would've saved it because I can see the evolution from gyms to trials. They were going to end up going that way regardless. We still need something different.
