I wouldn't say so. Of course it'll announce a new gen, they don't make pre-announced Directs for shovelware spinoffs. Thinking that the reveal will be anything else than a new gen seems as deluded as all those people thinking that SM were a third Kalos version back in the day. So yeah, there are such people but they're irrelevant faggots.

Though, these days made it clear that groudonfags didn't believe they were going to be revealed in Pokemon Day, so it only takes the titles for them to be BTFO'd.
At least, that's what groudon/kygore-fagging meant. Either nothing new or something new. Anything else is shitposting.

As far as I remember, Kyogres were only saying "Gen reveal on Pokémon Day", not "Gen reveal with starters, legendaries, boxes, and region reveal".
Groudons were saying there would be no reveal.

So yes, to me just a new gen revealed would be a Kyogres win.

You would think it's obvious they would include some, but after S/M's "here's a logo, come back in three months" I wouldn't put it past them to show the logo's, starters and that's it. That's just the etymology of those two terms. The meanings evolve.

In my terms, an uninformative teaser with little to no info is a Groudon.

If we consider Groudons and Kyogres as you said, then any Kyogre/Groudon debate just doesn't make sense at this point. Direct means reveal - they don't make Directs to recap on old shit.

Also, I remember a different origin of Kyogre/Groudon dichotomy.

The original Kyogre/Groudon ORAS trailer, which the terms originated from, wasn't even supposed to reveal a new game - we already knew about ORAS back then, but we had practically no info about it other than the covers and logos. And people expected that the trailer would be the first concrete info about these games and turned out it wasn't, just a short in-game shot of Groudon and Kyogre facing each other.

Therefore, Groudon/Kyogre don't refer to the lack of presence of a reveal, they refer to the scope of information in the trailer. What you described happened long after Groudon and Kyogre became a meme.

The most realistic best-case scenario is logos, release date, little bit of overworld gameplay, little bit of battle gameplay, starters with names, box legends with names. That's the most Kyogre we can realistically get. I don't think we'll quite get all of that though as TPC need to pad this shit out over approx. nine months.
