Sure, shounen MCs ate usually boring, but it's still a hell of an improvement.
Honorable mention to Reiner, probably the most interesting character in the series.
But as to your question, i expect a minor graphic upgrade, but a big enough region to make up for it. Overall a good Pokémon game, but memorable for being the first on a home console.
Also please please please, better animations.
