try nuzlocking it if you've already played gen 7, it's pretty fun like that
totems and bosses are more challenging when you don't want even a single pokemon knocked out

Honestly the only pokemon games I'd stop someone from buying are X/Y. They're the extra smelliest most pudrid pieces of shit from the pile of manure that was all the 3ds games.

I've tried, it's actually hard to nuzlocke and a good challenge, but going through the story and cutscenes are such a chore that it becomes no fun at all. No skipping absolutely ruins replayablity.
