Last game I played was ORAS. Both that and XY felt like such bare minimum effort games, I didn't care to check out gen 7 when I heard it was more of the same and even worse cases of hand holding.
I feel like it's going to be very difficult for them to get back to making a game on the same par as HGSS/BW2, but if it's gonna be any generation I feel like there enough signs pointing towards them making an effort for this one. Both Ultra S/M and LGPE felt like very easy-to-make games and the optimist in me is hoping they were so simple because they've been devoting time to Pokemon Switch during those other development windows.
I got a switch for free though, so I'll definitely get the gen 8 game, but past that I'm not real sure I care enough about the series to waste time on half assed games
