>>37692907>Grind of Wild BattlesI much rather that than catch 100+ Pokemon to level up my party. That's totally against the spirit of Pokemon; you're supposed to raise and train them into something. That was my problem with GO in the first place - It's only about catching.
If you don't like Wild Battles, just use repels.
Seeing Pokemon in the Overworld is neat, especially with different size variants, but being able to fight them would have made Lets Go! A lot better; even if they kept the catching mechanics the same as GO, where you have to aim the ball, on top of the battling, it would have been infinitely more interesting than the boring 'lob Pokeballs repeatedly until you catch hundreds of them
'Gotta Catch 'Em All' was never about catching as many Pokemon as possible - It was about catching all the different Pokemon to fill the Pokedex.
The rest of the game is lazy, but I still would have bought it if they didn't take out a third of the game-play that has been a staple of, and arguably the biggest the point, of the series since the Gameboy. And that's the problem. They took out core mechanics just to make it simpler for now good reason - And you can't even argue 'it's for kids' because so were the original games.
It's not even like it was advertised as a spin-off either. You could have been a Pokemon Researcher, Prof Oak's intern, trying to catch different variants of Pokemon, seeing how they do differently in battle and such, and they could have had additional mini-games based on that - It could have made the game being a remake interesting because you wouldn't be exploring from a trainers perspective either, making this tread retread through Kanto different; but they didn't. They tried to change the mainline game to be the simplest thing possible reusing assets and stationing them in a familiar setting, making the game simple and lazy, while trying to convince long-term fans this is what they want, and that's why people are irritated. We deserve better
