Starters look okay; not sure why people are acting like these are somehow a dip in quality, they're more or less the same style as the last few generations have been. Using the UK as a region inspiration has me a bit hyped. People are pissy about the map being "a straight line", but Pokemon games were always linear, it seems people just like to let the shape of a map fool them, I guess. Besides, we have no idea what the scale of the map is, there are clearly a lot of routes not being shown. I don't get the love for overworld encounters from LGPE, I don't think they suit the main game at all.
We basically saw nothing objectively horrendous, but people are assuming the worst of everything. I personally don't care all that much so I'm not going to rile myself up over a video game. As long as the final game doesn't have as much handholding or retarded, forced anime-tier plot, it'll be worlds better than Gen 7.
