>>37707974I do think this is actually plausible for a few other reasons.
-A lot of Japanese tourists I've spoken to (Both in the UK and Japan) mention quite a lot that you can basically get a train from the top of the country all the way through to France (and onto the rest of europe) so I feel like this is something GameFreak will probably have noticed. I don't think there are many foreign tourists who don't at least notice the closeness of ourselves to France.
-From the map we've seen, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of sea/ocean, which is going to make it difficult to fit a lot of the sea-based water Pokemon. If there is a direct train route to Kalos based on the channel tunnel, it also means it's very likely for there to be a ferry there too seeing as we have direct ferry links to France. If the Galar map really is an 'upside down' UK (OK, that much snow in the midlands doesn't make much sense) and London is at the top (It does have Big Ben and the London Eye) then that would mean a small Dover-like town could be in there too (Though it seems more likely they'll just build a harbor into 'London' because it'd be strange to have the big city have no links to the outside world).
Which also means a possible long (surfable) water route that the ferry takes, which would then mean that a lot of the other sea-based Pokemon have a place to go. The English channel isn't exactly tropical waters, but it makes more sense to have shit like Luvdisc there than in a lake somewhere.
