The only reason I was happy with the reveal is because my expectations were so astronomically low that the game would have to be worse than Let's Go to disappoint me.

I don't want open-world Pokemon, I just want effort. Give me effort like with Gen 4 and 5 and I'm sold.

Most likely just for decoration, or if anything it'll be for a ship like the SS Anne. Much like the docks in Kanto.

Kalos has 8 gyms showing and Ireland is part of the UKs unique geography and it's missing.
There's 5 gyms clearly visible. 3 are straight up missing, and if you think they're downgrading to having only 5 you're braindead.

There's 100% only 5 gyms on here. They're clear to see, the map is high quality so there's nothing being obscured by low rest shit.
The dock is literally there to head over to the ireland part of the region. GF has clearly made a concious decision to hide it and reveal it later to keep the hype going. Everybody wants more landmass to explore.

If you're going to grasp at straws by marking things that don't have the same architecture as the gyms though then don't bother. All of the gyms in this game clearly have a very distinct design, they wouldn't add 5 with that building type then just drop it for 3 random looking ones.

Even based on your argument that they all look the same there's 6 since the flower is just a pretty version of the regular stadium. It has the gym logo on it so don't bother saying otherwise. That leave the red city and the dragon city as not having gyms of the normal shape, but they both have central domed buildings that could be special fancy gyms.

overworld pokemon was never in the mainline games. lets go eevee and pikachu are spinoffs. these are mainline games, meaning they will retain a majority of their mainline mechanics. overworld pokemon would severely mess with encounter rates and catching things with how the main games are supposed to work.

Im thinking its more of an elitw 4 analog or something than a gym . Or the battle tower of the gen.

In the screen footage we see the cirxle have type symbols in them.

The flower in london is a pokeball, not a type symbol.

The dragontower I'll admit is a tad debatable but it has it's field clearly on the outside, the clocktower is clearly built around it's gym. The other odd one has the prongs on the outside. In the end even if the tower isn't a gym there still will be 8 and you can at least clearly identify 7.
