Think these are the first set of starters to actually have a "theme" right from the getgo.
At least with Alola, there was speculation of a circus theme or something to do with potentially extinct or endangered animals of Hawaii.

Gen 8's are quite on the nose, and I really don't like that.

This was not subtle, the Gen 5 starters were the beginning of the obvious themes.
