I only care about final evos, this goes for most pokemon anyways. I think literally all the base starters look good, but then become great or awful

I mean, I only liked Chespin in Gen 6 and Rowlet in Gen 7 as far as the first stages go. This gen, the rabbit might grow on me but I'm open to seeing what the final forms look like.

The only one I have hope for is the monkey. the bunny already has bandages making it look like a fighting type and be furbait #47 while the water type is the coolest meaning gamefreak will fuck it up the most

Rabbit is an awful cereal mascot, chameleon has retarded head to body ratio but lots of potential, monkey is pretty good. Reserving final judgement until seeing the evos, I can't bear the heartbreak of deciding I really like one but having it turn into some gimmicky furshit.

As of right now yes depends on what the second and final stages look like. To me only Gens 1, 3, 4, 5, and 7 have starters that look good at any stage.
