This is absolutely brilliant by a corporate standpoint, but fucking stupid by a consumer standpoint

Walking animations for literally all of the pokemon are already in USUM's files. Could easily just use those.
(Plus the gen 4 remakes are coming up which had an area specifically made for following pokemon)
