Something tells me that the Verne Abbas design on that one Hill in the first trailer for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield was a response to AZ's Visit to Galar during the 3000-year Pokémon war on his search for hs floette and the region's response is why he went into hiding for so long. Does anybody else think this way?

Say what you will about SM's long ass cutscenes, but at least they flesh out their characters some. I enjoy how much play Lusamine and Guzma got (not USUM. That ruined whatever good things SM did).

Just yesterday I realized that I don't remember any town aside from Lumiose City and no Gym leader besides Korrina.

I at least remember some Gen VII towns and all the trial leaders/Kahunas

If Galar really was the region that went to war with Kalos, I wonder how much lore will we discover about it? Like, was Galar the one that instigated the conflict? The fact that it's shaped like a sword might indicate so.
I hope this ties in to whatever the evil team and plot will be. Say, Galar was once an aggressive nation bent on conquering the other regions, and this evil team wants to take over Galar and bring it back to its aggressive conquerer roots.
Pic related is relevant, because from what I remember from the anime, Sengoku Basara's rendition of Oda Nobunaga was that of an aggressive expansionist hellbent on bringing Japan and then the world under his "military rule".

Kalos colonized Galar in 1066 which later spawned a 100 years war as the kings of Galar (who were of Kalosi origin due to the 1066 conquest) started claiming the Kalosi throne because of their Kalosi blood.
