There's a lot wrong with OP's image but this gets me the most. OldGold is fucking and top tier, redesign ruined it, only bad part about HGSS. Crystal got a huge upgrade though.

Except Red isn't just iconic because he was the first trainer but because his design is fucking good. It captures the essence of 90s fashion with his colours, sneakers, and oversized jacket, without looking garish and dated like Ethan or Kris, as well as the original focus of the Pokemon games on the outdoors before things became more urbanised a la the early concept art.
