It's like the one from XY to SM.

XY to SM was pretty different though. They went from chibis to normal proportions. This one is just SM up-res'd. Maybe it'd be a big leap if they can confirm there's a free camera with no asterisks attached.

The XY to SM change was pretty significant.

Meanwhile this game is almost definitely running on SM's engine so nothing's really changed at all.

gen 4 > 5 was easily the smallest leap.

SS is the first gen in HD and the areas look bigger.

SS is basically Gen VII but look nicer cause it uses switch quality.

The camera also has a more advanced angle that seems to alter as you proceed in your movment. This is much better than the hallway or flat area feeling XY/SM had with its overworld.

Albeit Gen 4 was already in 3D with 2D sprites, it wasn't until Gen 5 that they exploited new camera angles and all that.

Also, they changed the battle sprites.

Sword/Shield is just Sun/Moon in HD. Of course it has more details, because Switch can move more things on screen.

But barring that and better textures, if you take some Sun/Moon Citra screenshot and compare it to Sword/Shield, there's not much difference

That's not the games fault, you have no way to proof either. And my experience is different, most played it on the GBC or GBA. It was a game released in the year 2000-2001 for a 1990 handheld. The original drained batteries like crazy, which were much more expensive back then, and had a shitty screen.

Either people played it on the Pocket, or the Color or the Advance.

As I said, the only GB which didn't deserve an upgrade like mad was the Pocket/light.

The battles in gen 5 are completely different. Gen 4 battles look the same as gen 3.

I owned a fucking GB Pocket.

And as I said, my experience is that by 2000-2001 most kids still invested in the handheld games had the GBC. Easier on the batteries, much better screen, smaller.

Many kids had the GBC as their first console, around the year 2000.

Different teams and such. It'll probably work out better in terms of sales for GF but for us it's a bit jarring. Between the two games I think S/S has a better art style and looks visually more pleasing even if Let's Go was cleaner overall.

Back when I was growing up nobody I knew had an original Game Boy. I used to play both Gen 1 and 2 but both me and everyone I knew had a GBC at the time.

Gen 6 made huge graphical changes from gen 5.

Gen 7 had the character models less chibi styled which was an improvement

As for gen 8, I'm glad that changes aren't too big. I'd like to think that effort has been put into pokemon designs and character/story development rather than solely on environmental graphics.
