People seem to think it's a cheap copy of Norse mythology, but this isn't true. The norse version just survived longer due to the earlier conversion of the British Isles.

I'd say British Mythology is primarily Anglo-Saxon, with clearly a Brythonic substrate (obviously most prominently in Cornwall and Wales). The Scottish Highlands have a strong history with Gaelic mythology.
