Is the best game but if I were to give a flaw is that they should have made the Johto side still a bit harder, also a nitpick would been not having the celebi event in the game without Mystery Gift like how they did Deoxys in ORAS

Pokémon distribution like certain Johto Pokémon not appearing in Johto, but only in Kanto.

That's pretty much the only issue I have with the game. I guess I would've also preferred if Ho-Oh/Lugia thing had been kept completely optional like in the originals, but that was not a big deal.

Literally the only flaw with this game is how low the wild pokemon levels are when you need to grind a lot anyway, making the grind that much longer.
Its a great game, but I've beat it twice, beaten Red so I think I'm all set with it.

I haven't used an emulator in literal years. I noticed this while going through all my games last year, gen4 just feels incredibly sluggish compared to gen3.
I love HG/SS and they are a very strong contender for best game, but this thread asked for a flaw. This is the only real one I can find but it is still valid criticism

That alone is enough to make them not the bests of all time, since it ruins the core of the game, but I'll continue anyway.
>team rocket is shoehorned in and their actions barely make any sense, like above they are also insultingly underleveled. they only exist to roadblock you from doing more interesting things
>evolutionary stones don't exist in the pregame unless you get really lucky with phone calls or ruin gameplay momentum by spending a bunch of time grinding pokeathlon, good luck getting a leaf stone if you want victreebel my dude
>the only character that isn't shit is silver, all of the rest of them are only cardboard cutouts to tutorial dump you, give you items, or dialogue spam you. Lyra/Ethan (who you don't pick) especially is a very pointless new character.
>even silver isn't done perfectly, since to finish his entire storyline you are required to go to Mt. Moon in Kanto, which there is no indication of, it isn't even a mandatory area to visit all cities in kanto, and it can be easily skipped. after Mt. Moon you then have to go to dragon's den, which again there is no indication of. For complete closure as well, you have to get a event wondercard pokemon too.
>fighting lugia/ho-oh is required for some reason, even though they have had nothing to do with anything that's happened in the game, and won't have anything to do with anything later either. you also have to fight them at a terrible time, crushing gameplay momentum when many players will want to go check out the pokemon league. when attempting to go to the pokemon league beforehand, Lyra literally tells you "Where do you think you're going?"
>after beating the champion lance, whose strongest pokemon is level 50, you unlock an entire region of trash trainers whose pokemon are on average in the high 30s and low 40s. they are all tedious.

Overall: The game was excellent when it was the most recent game, but a lot of its previous appeal is lost while playing through it in recent day (when all of your friends aren't doing the same, and the internet isn't discussing it) or while replaying it.
