So why would Grookey be a drummer? What theme does it hold? (and as of late, every generation starters have a theme) The most possible are the three main sports in GK - soccer (football), cricket and rugby.
Grookey bangs the stick on the rock, similarly as the pitcher bangs his bat on the base in cricket. Also, the different color of fur on the hands/paws resemble gloves that are also worn in cricket.
Sobble is the most enigmatic with its shy character and invisibility, but its hands and how they kinda focus on them in the trailer may resemble the grip that is used in rugby.
Also, you even get a soccer stadium gym with your protag walking out in a full-on soccer kit, the sports theme just checks out.
