Also, there were mentions of sword and shield long before that rumor and Britain was used in almost every one of them as well. The only thing that could make it a leak is finding about the legendaries or the armored evolutions being real.

People also believe this because digimon did armored evolution. So just like how mega evolution became a thing this will as well. Pokemon is trying to keep finding new gimmicks. Even unique Z moves were taken from digimon as each digimon had a unique move especially when in there mega stage. Deny all you want it's gonna happen.

Don't forget they also did DNA evolution as well but only applied that to the legionaries in Gen 5 and Gen 7. This shouldn't be surprising as Digimon games have been failing quite recently and no signs of a new anime coming up ever since tri ended.
