People would hate Venusaur if it were revealed as a final starter mon in this day and age, it would be a huge disappointment for people who were invested in Bulbasaur's design.

it doesn't go against what bulbasaur originally looked like like other certain starters, it kinda just gets bigger so i doubt that someone who likes bulbasaur wouldn't like venusaur

Because most of the time it's just the simple way out and most starters do more extravagant things with their evolutions.
