So what's the final consensus on LGPE?

Easy as they were, imho, they brought alot of good features that should have been kept/improved upon.

These are things that LGPE introduced to mainline that need to stay:

>models that are actually to scale in battle
>not having to hold the fucking B button to run
>overworld encounters
>following pokemon

You know what’s interesting. Looking at sword and shield on amazon charts. LGEP got a huge a huge boost and rose on charts just from announcement of Gen 8

With detective Pikachu releasing in May. I think these games will leg out and we will get let’s go Johto

No wild battles, Go style catching, forced on EXP share, lower level trainers, gym leaders had requirements, no items or abilities, hugely reduced movepools. 5th run through Kanto. Terrible. But obviously over world encounters and following/riding Pokemon are great things that should be in Gen 8. Why can't GF just make a game with all the good features. Have overworld encounters which are good but keep out the Go catching which is shit. Gen 8 is a huge disappointment for not having the good features LGPE had.

They would've been okay if they had been a $15 little thing in the e-shop to try to appeal to people that left the franchise.

But instead they made this the next big thing and they charged you $60 for a game that has less content than the last Kanto remakes, and to complete one of the few new things (the Pokémon master title) you still need to play Go (Meltan) and to buy the $50 Mew- I mean control. Yeah, legendaries had stupid methods in the past but they were a bonus thing, not something to finish the one new thing you promoted on trailers next to HEY IT'S BROCK, REMEMBER BROCK, RIGHT?

Half baked attempt at doing something good.
They tried to play extremely safe by making a 1:1 replica of an old game to test new mechanics that weren't even fully implemented and ended up being rushed sketches of what they probably intended to go for.

Everyone who, exactly? Even people who played them and enjoyed them would rather have the new mechanics in new games than getting remakes we don't need. Nostalgiafags won't buy anything past Kanto (maybe Johto but that's still stretching it) and only-phone players aren't going to spend on money on a console and a game for something they have on their phones. GF wants the phone audience and they don't understand phone players like phone games because they're free.

Most of the people who bought LGPE were already console Pokémon game players.

Haven't bought the game so I can't really say how these actually affect gameplay, but I feel the same way. I'd love a overworld encounter feature similar to something like Dragon Quest or Xenoblade2, it just makes the world feel more alive; also pokemon following you should be a given by now, I don't get why GF would remove that

I think the consensus has always been that overworld encounters and following Pokemon should be a staple additions to the games but they don't work with the Kanto map.
LGPE has good aspects, but as a whole it's terrible. It's like a delicious chocolate cake that GF took a dump on.

every single game has an NPC that tells you this
you would know that if you actually played any of them
