I don't remember the exact numbers, but there was a bit of drop off in Johto and a major drop off in viewership in Hoenn. Even if its doing better than most of their other marathons (Which I think now its holding about even with YuGiOh) no one in management is seeing that drop and being happy about it.

I think it is but a large part of that is how it is compared to the series around it.

Advanced had no rival, the Aqua/Magma plot was shitty, Max, Contests were okay but not great, tough getting used to Misty being gone, it was just an overall pretty meh experience. And then BW had Ash reset, shitty annoying rival, Iris exacerbating other problems, dropped plots, Ash having a shitty team, terrible League.

Now look at DP. Dawn was great and we already knew someone new was coming this time. Paul was the best rival Ash has ever had, Ash has a great team, Team Galactic is handled far better and is more interesting in the first place, Pokemon Hunter J, Cynthia and the Elite Four appearing more, Contests and Contest rivals being better, lots of really fun mini-arcs like the summer camp and the SS/HG promotion with Lyra, generally improved battles, Ash at his best and most competent at this point, in general a lot of really fun episodes, using the companion characters from the games. DP was just good.

I don't really remember anyone in my area getting back into it if they ever dropped the series, but I also exclusively hung out with giant fucking nerds who checked serebii every day for leaks and other info with DPPt coming out. Honestly replaying Pt now and its mind blowing to me how little I remember of this game. I can tell you exactly where to go and where all the best hidden shit is in gens 1-3 and 5 is so straight forward and the plot helps make it memorable. I still like 4 though.

The Pokemon marathon seems to be the most successful marathon on the twitchpresents marathon. The viewership and chat participation is more lively when Pokemon streams. I personally made an twitch account for the first time just to participate in the chat.

Funny you say that, I trained one up to level 28 just for her, very overleveled.
Spoilers: she carries a Technician Breloom with Mach Punch that straight up hard counters it, no way around it. He knew.

Just realized you knew I had a Houndoom because of the team picture I posted, saw yours too.
It sucks how in vanilla DP it feels mandatory to pick Chimchar due to no fire types. And yeah Renegade is great, I just fucked up by putting all my eggs into a single basket and the game outsmarting me.
But I guess there's a reason the game sents you to Route 216 before Gardenia is available, I probably need to train up an Ice Pokemon. Yes, you read that right, it changes the structure of the game that much, at least early on. Really cool.
