Galar might come from the word for Gallant so not too far off. I think the region names origins are tied to the origins of the legendaries. Like Greece for the Kalos legendaries (Artemis Apollo and the Python), Alola and it’s celestial and terrestrial deities, and now old French hinting at maybe heraldic esque or Celtic hound Pokémon
