That's my point, they mostly see it as street food. Someone literally made a review on a haute chinese cuisine stating that "this is the chinese restaurant I'll eat because it's clean".

It's not as bad as before because tastes finally developed outside of most people's comfort zone but there was that prevailing idea back then.
