Platinum is the most important 3rd version up to that point in time. Diamond and Pearl really needed Platinum.
I literally dropped pokemon at diamond and pearl. It just didn’t have everything a regional dex needed and the first few routes needed it. Pretty much everyone finished the game with Starter, Luxray, Staraptor, Roserade.
The region design is solid but they nixed all water routes ideas and overdid the cave portion of it without proper, contrasting, separately themed dungeons like we have nowadays. And i love cave settings.
