Your party members are Gastly, Machop, and Gligar, each of which can evolve (but only once, no Gengar or Machamp, at least in the first game), and each are playable in unique ways: Gligar can be used as a glider for Riolu, Gastly can act as a special shield and can pass into the spirit realm, and Machop would have special close-combat sections. There are no humans. Your rival is a Sneasel who travels with Croagunk, Misdreavus and Noibat. The villain is Hoopa (Unbound) who summons Giratina and Yveltal for the final battle.
