Probably 3, mainly because they feel like the most polished games to me. Aside from Ruby and Sapphire having no move items option in the PC I pretty much never get frustrated with trying to play gen 3 pokemon games.

I really need to play more of gen 5 though. Only ever did Black then a bit of black2 when they were new.

Gen 4, specifically the Gen 2 remakes. I feel like HG/SS basically have everything I'd ever want in a pokemon game; the follow feature (which should have fucking stayed in the game), two full regions to explore, classic mons that I like including my boi totodile, the way the world is set up, the characters you meet, the legendaries, it's all just so great.
