-The pacing. There is like hours of gameplay between the first and second badge, then the gyms and plot starts speeding up and you'll find yourself at victory road's entrance before you can say "wait what?".
-The characters. X/Y introduces quite a few characters, but almost none of them are fleshed out and they end up being very forgettable.
-Even though it's technically you retards's fault for not turning it off, the Exp. Share reduced the game's difficulty more than it should have.
-It was released right after Black 2/White 2. These games would have gotten way less hate if they didn't release right after what was considered the pinnacle of Pokemon, despite the fact these two games have different "goals" for the franchise.
