I think he could do well if Masuda isn't breathing down his neck at every stage of development. If he has as much creative freedom as possible Ohmori could easily do great things with a game he directs. But I do wish they would give some more love to the other directors that have been in the series.

I think he'd do well if Gamefreak wasn't worried about focus testing crap like what percentage of players are playing bonus content, or how 6 year olds felt about map layouts. He's not a bad director his games are all generally competent with strong ideas they're just held back by the corporate side of things.

I'd say he has potential, and most of what makes him bad is due to being shadowed by Masuda. However if he's responsible for the story structure of SM, then that's something he needs to work on.

The trials were added because they skimped out on gyms anyway. SM/USUM were also worse in the map design. We know that shit wasn't Masuda's fault.

Trials were not last minute they were planned from the very start and were heavily discussed because Ohmori wanted to implement them well. I have no idea why people keep posting that they were last minute.

Well most of the time people are praising Emerald, HGSS, Platinum and B2W2, and all of those games were not directed by Masuda.

Ohmori is unproven. Problem is he fucked up the Gen 3 remakes, and created Gen 7 as a whole. However in interviews it seemed like he had some good intentions, as he tried to get the Battle Frontier back, but Masuda shot him down.

This is his last chance though, and right now the first trailer has failed to impress.
