I hated XY but that was definitely the hypest battle I'd ever seen in Pokemon. I want to say the Tobias battle was more impressive when Ash flipped his hat, but realistically, I never believed he could win.

Except Greninja actually has explanations and thousands years old lore to explain it, it's just a rare Greninja, not pretty different from the rare Noctwol Ash got in Johto (a shiny one). Meanwhile Infernape was just super strong because, no rare ability, no pseudo megaevolution, nothing, just "lol it works the monkey is on fire"

The problem with this battle is that is goes on for like 2 minutes and then ends. They just wanted to show the animation and that's it. There were no strategy whatsoever and Greninja was at a clear advantage (For some reason...)

Agreed. Magma vs Charizard had the coolest backdrop and set up. And it's the kind of set up you can never do again without making it feel played out.
