1. Ghost Pokémon have genders and can breed—even with Ditto. Even if ghost types were dead (and they’re not) a Ditto wouldn’t be able to die and resurrect itself to breed. Therefore, ghost types must have a biological reproductive system that Ditto can copy.

2. Alolan Marowak is not an actual spirit like we see in the Gen 1 games—it gained the ghost typing through its ritual dances. So, we know that ghost type abilities don’t have to come from death

Also, even if that were true (and it isn’t) it still wouldn’t explain Alolan Marowak or how people became aware that ghost types were dead humans

Even Sensu Oricorio is a ghost type that isn’t dead. It gains the ghost type by drinking a special nectar that gives it ghost like abilities—the nectar doesn’t kill the Pokémon if it did, it wouldn’t be able to change forms again.
