It’s literally just as much puzzles/trials, small monsters to fight, big bosses to fight, and as many cool locations and lore giving NPCs as we’ve ever had - if not more - just with an open world added on top so now you also get to enjoy just running around somewhere pretty and you get to do things like notice a particularly tall hill, climb it, and find a rare mushroom growing there.
I feel like what would have made people happier though is if the trials had more rooms, some of the rooms are puzzle rooms, but then there’s corridors/rooms full of enemies to go through before continuing. Also maybe slightly Moreno monster variety per area and slightly increased monster density over all.
All in all I like the game. It feels like an entirely new game but also feels very Zelda, it has the things I liked before but puts them in a new context that changes the experience. I think going from a “little sprite hero runs around hitting monsters on a 2D map”, taking that and taking everything that’s happened, and creating new lore and a whole new look at the lore to make a new story was awesome.
Pokémon is afraid to do the same though, because their games have always been so kiddy that any vast change, even if you tried to keep it just as kiddie, would feel extremely alienating.
