How the fuck do you even play Pokemon? Like... there's so many different formats and none of them seem untroublesome. I can play very streamlined competitive battles in a variety of ways on Pokemon Showdown, but that's not nearly as satisfying as playing battles on the actual console and game... and then the actual game makes it nigh impossible to switch up your competitive team without tedious headache inducing grinding (which I used to do all the time and now massively regret). And like 7/8ths of the entire roster is unviable and useless, not to mention the number of vestigial mechanics and moves like evasion which desperately needs revamping, and Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, their starter equivalents etc being completely unviable. It's like they gave us several mechanics that are 50% complete and have remained that way for almost a decade without improvement or redesign. Instead of reworking things to fit the new meta established by the next gen, things just get leftover and get made completely redundant by new mechanics (ironically, this also occurs in card games a lot). All the different levels of play overlap and spill into each other in brain busting and autistic ways, broken piece of shit mons get banished so that the game is still playable under Smogon rules...
What is your preferred style/format of postgame PvP battling? And why do you like it/why does it suit you? What gimmicks do you like? What gimmicks do you hate?
