It's not disprovable it's earliest instance of existence are HIS accounts labeled as fanart. He's a 17 year old Korean boy with zero access to production art. All you had to say is that they didn't draw its back. All of the starters have their backs drawn. Most of the concept art for the 7th gen pokemon have them.

The middle stages have been extremely detached from both the 1st and 3rd forms these past 2 gens, I doubt we'd get any solid confirmation from Scorbunny 2nd.

No, they may not be 1:1 logical steps but they bridge the gap because they normally introduce elements that will become far stronger in the final form.

Like last gen. 1 month after the starter reveal you had the starter final stages leaked. People didn't believe but once the middle stages came out reasonable people saw the connections (litten becoming a buff boi makes tony the tiger fit. The seal suddenly becoming so much more female looking with more ruffles makes primarina make sense. The middle owl also had design elements reflected in it's final.)

Right now they are blank slates, so any final form could be possible. But even when they jump the shark design wise (samurott) they still so that they're introducing a theme in the middle stage.

So if Scorbunny evolves into something wearing a visor or goggles and starts looking more jet/ flight themed and so on it'll look hella clear.
