I like playing with steel teams for the hell of it, but honestly I just can't stand having heatran on my team.

It's decent as a fire extinguisher but building it around that purpose makes it piss-poor and handling anything else aside from landorus if you're willing to risk having your air balloon popped.

Is there a way to either make it more flexible or to swap it out with something that is?
