There will be no way to catch Alolan Pokemon in gen 8.
Pokemon Amie and Refresh will be cut out, even though it works with LGPE.
Super training will be cut, they won't be able to make it work without touchscreen.

At least from a developer standpoint their laziness there has an 'excuse' but there is no excuse for the removal of a pelago-esque feature where you can see box sprites of your pokemon getting to stretch there 'legs' rather than thinking of them as trapped digital data bytes in ball stasis.

Gen 5 had you battle the doctors before they'd heal you, and they were placed in spots where you were expected to grind or after long stretches of routes like in gen 3.
XY placed them in awkward spots for either of these uses and didn't require a win in battle before use.

Having to run back gives your brain a risk/reward problem to crunch over. Either be safe and put the effort into running back, spend your heal items, or risk it by pressing forward with a weakened team. Here's a good way to balance it then. You can only do it if you have the proper healing item in your bag and the item is consumed like normal. Now the feature is reduced to a cute and convenient way to heal your Pokemon immediately after a fight.

The TWEWY port plays just fine you're probably just used to playing it on the DS. Overall the Switch has a better touchscreen it's a proper touchscreen and not a pressure touchpad like the DS, 3DS, and Wii U had. It just doesn't come with a stylus.

The only change that needed to be made was the HG/SS style change which games even on the GBA had - a menu option to turning running on by default, not making it stick controlled garbage.

They're fine on things like tablets and phones where you'd need them to resize things but for gaming, resistive touch screens (what the DS and 3DS have) are better.

With modern games and the overworld being bigger than before, I can see a Trainers Eyes-like feature coming back. As long as it's not time/day specific like in GSC/HGSS, cause that was a pain in the ass and it was limited to like two specific trainers for a day.

Emerald's Match Call was the best in this aspect, making it feel like the NPCs were actual people for once and not robots. Will GameFreak ever decide to give more than one dialog per character, outside of gym leaders or main characters?

Raising EVs by battling has always been faster than playing the shitty minigames. The only caveat is that you need the right tools, but it's a one-time time investment.

I would love for Alolan formes to return, but the Pokemon has to hold the Strange Souvenir to get those formes (because it has Alolan energy).

I'd like to see a version of the Friend Safari return. It would be cool if one of those stadiums had a Pokethlon minigame, I really enjoyed those in HGSS.
