I can't be the only one who dislikes this trash feature. Mega evolutions however were super cool and makes competitive battles more interesting while Z-moves are just used to oneshot mons. Also the animations takes to long. Just please don't introduce this in Gen 8 Gamefreak. kk thx

Z moves are based in pvp but make things too easy in the main plot, they should have been a postgame unlock.

Z moves were silly and fun, and best part about them is you don't need to use them

Megas ruin the chances of shitmons ever getting evos which I would prefer over a temporary form change they were also all really ugly but that's subjective

They were never getting evos to begin with

If they got a Mega, then Game Freak considers the line "complete" design-wise and can't come up with a design for an evolution

I don't like z moves, but I don't like megas either. Until every line gets a mega, the whole concept just stifles team building since you're basically reserving a team spot for a mega from the limited list of them. Megas should just have been standard evolutions with balanced stats

You what really was terrible about Gen 6/7? How the buttons bounced when you clicked them during battles. That alone made the game feel like it was truly was for fucking babies. Like I was interacting with. Leap Frog or Fischer Price tablet. I really hope they tidy up the UI this time around

Z moves were so shit that they were ignored in their own generation in the last game (Let's Go) while Megas stayed. Looks like GF understand Megas were faaaar better, no wonder they are making Armor forms now

Z Moves get more exposure because they are weaker, that's literally the only reason, they only appear once per battle so they are basically used for the final blown, while Megas can stay and fuck entire times as overpowered mons, that's why they were quite more rare.

Megas were a bigger mistake than Z-Moves.
They really only furthered the power gap by giving megas to many pokemon that were already good.
FFS psuedos with megas have higher base stats than fug.
Z Moves did the same to a lesser extent, the stronger pokemon still get more out of them.
As much as I dislike both of them, they help against bullshit stall so I prefer they stay.

It's the opposite, people liked megas and new megas would make money but Armors (if done correctly) would make even more money because it's basically the same but with some differences to make it fresh, like Primals or Ultra Burst. They don't wanna repeat megas all time so they change it a little and sell it with a new name

Z-moves were probably meant as a sort of reaction to the complaints that "my favorite didn't get a Mega!!!" since they allowed whoever to use them at will.

Then, because GF is incompetent, they gave out special Z-stones for one specific Pokemon. Like the Snorlium or the Pikanium or what have you. Those should've just been Megas.

That's debatable really; now everything can be a lure and it further splits shitmons from top meta threats (why waste your one Z-move on a mon with low attack).
The best thing to come from this gimmick is the meme tier fuckery, like Z-peck Mamoswine, Z-zap-cannon Slowbro, etc.

They're being limited in LGPE to the untradable partner Pokemon while still letting people use and fight megas. Z-moves are basically being being put as a Gen 7 thing. The anime also made it a thing recently where Z-moves can't be used outside Alola because of supposed out of Tapu range, so they're most likely gone.

If they want them to work for PVP going forward they can just make it a post-game thing where someone from alola shows up arbitrarily and gives you a tapu charm or some shit that makes Z-moves work. Then you have another several dozen things to blow BP on.

Recent as in the last few episodes? Because Ash and Kiawe were able to use their Z-moves just fine in Kanto

I think it's perfectly fine that Z-moves have ran their course. Unlike Megas which is a feature that sort of needs indefinite attention due to the sheer number of Pokemon that could get one, Z-moves can augment any attacking move and status move.

You clearly don't understand anything about Z-Moves. They're much, much, much more problematic than Megas because Megas don't increase in strength every Gen. They're linear to play and are very predictable.
Z-Moves are not predictable and they patch holes in a Pokemon's movepools. Unbalanced movepools were how GF 'balanced' Pokemon like Kyurem-Black. Allowing Z-Moves means that GF has to be much more strict with all future Pokemon move designs.

They have already been reducing the size of new pokemon's move pools as well as their speed in order to avoid powercreep.
While I agree Z-Moves are less predictable, they can be partially blocked with moves like protect (a very common move in VGC.)
Megas were a way to make some older pokemon relevant again like Charizard, but they took that and buffed Salamence, like what the fuck.
Increasing base stats with an item that can't be removed isn't exactly a nice feature no matter how you try to spin it.

I understand that Z-Moves can buff coverage moves to OHKO levels, but a large portion of megas went to pokemon that didn't even need them. Gamefreak doesn't know how to balance.
