>>37862606I think for me, it's the same reason why I coach football and wrestling, and the same reason why I love franchise mode in madden. I have a really big interest in team building, talent development, and getting the most of things that on the surface level don't have a ton of abilities. That's probably why I take a shine to the less athletic kids on my team that work hard, why the Pokemon I choose are not very powerful, why even when I play competitively, I bring shitmons into OU and run gimmick sets.
Maybe it was actually Pokemon that ignited that passion in the first place, I've been playing it pretty obsessively for my entire life. But making connections, team building, and giving guidance to people that look up to me brings me so much joy and I think Pokemon is a fantastic simulation for that feeling.
