Oh god this song. I remember being genuinely confused the first time I heard it in game. I thought it was some kind of joke, or that it would change between islands or something.

Not that guy but the series has some of the least notable music of the JRPG mainstays. The only people who think Pokemon music is "good" are people who have been with the series for decades and appreciated how little it's changed, or people who just don't play games other than Pokemon.

I feel like that's a little close-minded. I think the series has a ton of memorable soundtracks that can stand up to a lot of other monolith JRPGs. To each their own but I'm gonna have to disagree. It's obviously not the best music in the industry but it can hold its own. For me the highlights are the PMD games but for mainline games my favorite soundtracks are from gens 4 and 5.
