I think that might just be the tradition now for pika-clones. Unless you ignore Plusle/Minun for their names just being thematically accurate, Japanese OR English, or Emolga, who the translators decided sounded better with an L instead of an N, they all seem to fit that pattern (and even those 3 either DO fit, or are intensely close).
