In most cases the only exception is how they teach you to play by actually playing the game rather than stopping everything to demand you know it in modern ones.

That's the reason I very much enjoyed games like XC2 and WoFF. You could, for the most part, skip the tutorial bits and just read later if you cared.

Nostalgia only has power over those who allow it to have power. Which is actually very few people despite what modern media would like you to believe with all of their remakes and reboots that are all shit in comparison to the originals.

it's not true though, hundred of games are better than red, yellow or silver like ruby, black, black2, X or moon for instance. the remakes are kinda ok but not forcefully better.
and, if you want to see what another inept game company did at this point in time, check morrowind, it's as ugly as this but it's good.
