Custom ev, iv, and nature spreads for trainers. It was great when the enemies did more damage or tanked a move better than expected. And not just with the important trainers who had near perfect stats. They did it with a few regular trainer classes, and I think that it gave them more of an identity. Veterans were nearly on par with the important trainers, and ace trainers were right behind them. Most black belts had sets for maxed out attack, and the cooks had hp ivs because their Pokemon. were fat.
Pokedex entries.
World was nice and felt more lived in. People in the game were interacting with Pokemon a lot more frequently, and the events around the game really helped with this. GF needs to figure out how to make maps feel more expansive again though. Taking things off the grid seemed to shrink things, and the camera is too close to the player at times.

The Aether employees were mostly just doing their jobs with no evil intent. Lusamine just went bonkers, and Faba just went with it for status. A few scientists in the lower labs were also probably in on it. Even then, the worst thing the scientists did was create silvally as a form of bio control against the ultra beasts, who were conceptualized as a bunch of invasive species.
