So much nostalgia lol. I remember browsing Serebii so long ago and seeing this. They debunked it as fake and the only reason I knew it was fake was because I used to compete in "sprite" contests using MSPaint. So I recognised a lot of the pieces in this mon.

People just try to follow the trends.
If something leaked one way before, they think it could happen the same way again.

Most "Photo of the pokemon on a blank paper" leaks were based on the actual Gen 5 starter leaks.
Most Corocoro style leaks come from the fact that Corocoro does get information first most of the time and pages of it leak constantly days before it comes out, so people try to jump on that every month.
Gen 6 gave us the leaked starter final evolutions by someone getting their hands on the game a month in advance and taking pictures of them. Not many try to emulate this though because it's so time sensitive.
And Gen 7 gave us the fucking "concept page" leak, which got everyone trying to make those even when they don't understand how they're made.

Meanwhile, the "real leaks" didn't look remotely similar to any style represented in Pokemon, and also looked terribly bland and uninspired (especially the mid-stages, holy shit are they bad, the artist couldn't even make the cat's perspective look right)
