Real talk would be nice if they could add some other effects to Emergency Exit to improve its usefulness. My only real idea is either making it cut off all damage past the 50% mark and switch out immidiatly, or have the switch out act like a baton pass.

anyway Water Bubble would be fucking broken on Golisopod. You know how much damage Araquanid's Liquidation does? Of of just base 70 Attack? And Golisopod has base 125!

It wouldn't be that good in OU. A lot of mons would either outspeed it and KO or live an Aqua Jet and then KO. The real issue with Golisopod is its speed, not its ability, although the ability also hurts.

That's why I -10 +10 on the SpD, I didn't think even with Water Bubble it would be that good without added bulk.
With these changes, it is similar to Azumarill, but has fewer resistances, no immunity to ease switching in, and First Impression can be thwarted by lele if predicted. On the other hand, it can't be burned.

Crawdaunt already has a niche in OU anyway, what we have here is quite possibly the best offensive check to Heatran in the game

Not to mention it's going to outspeed pretty much anything that doesn't invest in speed. Look at the calcs up top. It will demolish any defensive Pokemon and can't even be burned to put a stop to it. It's like Mega Mawile but stronger, with better stabs, more priority, and a choice band.

Water Bubble puts Aqua Jet around the same damage output as First Impression and it is spammable. Liquidation is unlikely to connect because of how slow Golisopod is, unless the opponent switches.

Right, but First Impression is already a 90 BP STAB move.
I was referring to Aqua Jet, which is effectively an 80 BP STAB move with Water Bubble.

Being slower than a "slow" U-Turn, Volt Switch or wall is a huge problem for a wallbreaker. Pretty much anything can pivot into a Golisopod check and eat the Water Bubble-boosted Liquidation.
The bulk, priority, and immunity to burn here are all compensating for low speed.

I know /vp/ doesn't play competitive but there is very, very, VERY little that can take a hit from this. Sending in any defensive Pokemon is basically begging the Golisopod user "Hey, switch into Golisopod here and you can get a free kill."
Also, it's not exactly so frail that it can't take a hit and then KO whatever poked it.

Doubling an attack's power is the same as doubling the user's Atk stat, so Golisopod's is stronger due to its higher base Atk. Literally 150% stronger than Azumarill.
On top of that it has respectable bulk, so it can take a hit.

You know if you put a few EVs into speed you can outspeed almost every defensive Pokemon in the metagame and still have enough bulk to take a hit or two and one- or two-hit KO in return, right? You know you don't HAVE to outspeed the entire tier in order to have an offensive presence, right?

Literally only Volcanion would be the most consistent and reliable counter to it. Rotom-W is a 2HKO and that really shows how fucking insane water bubble Golisopod would be, sure Ferro and Rotom-W can take a hit but consider rocks and other damage they'd be taking or had taken. It'd absolutely be banned to Ubers, water bubble is just that strong of an ability.

Pokemon Spork had a weird glitch that actually made Emergency Exit really cool.
When Emergency Exit activates, whichever Pokemon gets sent in immediately uses the attack Golisopod was going to use. This also meant you could get things like two attacks in one turn.

>Golisopod switches out to Scizor.
>This counts as Scizor's first turn on the field.

It also worked if Golisopod was outsped.

It was cool and made the ability really useful. I didn't really try it but this could probably be used for really janky shit like setting up two layers of spikes at once.

Band liquidation hits as hard as a non-banded Liquidation + a follow up aqua jet, but also gives immediately powerful aqua jets so Golisopod can also act as a revenge killer.
It also functions as a wallbreaker, meaning unless you're running complete hyper offense with no defensive backbone on your team, it's going to come in on your wall and good luck attacking through it at that point.

Band/Specs are only used on Pokemon that don't have access to boosting moves or can't make use of them for some reason. They're garbage items otherwise.
Golisopod has Swords Dance, if it dances instead of attacks with Liquidation, the game is over. The only reason band is included on the current sets in RU is because of Emergency Exit, making it impossible for Golisopod to make use of Swords Dance normally.
There's no good reason a Pokemon with 75/140/90 bulk and priority and coverage should be banded.

Probably. Draco/Flash Cannon/EP/Roost. With great bulk and typing it has some of the best defensive and offensive capabilities in OU. Staple of balance. Literally has no downside outside of weakness vs stall. Basically only revenged by Lopunny and Scarf Drill.

Top Electivire is the best. Think it would play similar to gen 6 Mega Metagross. The first Magmortar is obviously potent but offense deals with it and I think fat teams can adapt and use ChopleTar, which is already a decent support set.

Don't like the abilities on the other two. Think you tried too hard no offense. They'd be decent OU picks.

I actually made these nearly a year ago for one of those other mega threads, the OC abilities are pretty silly in practice (Livewire just getting shitted on by Synchronize and not really helping a frail AOA, Plasma Cannons also functionally useless) but the objective was to have something to tie them together specifically.

Probably BL. It relies too much on priority moves, which Lele completely shuts down. Bug STAB is pretty subpar, so First Impression wouldn't be that great. Did I mention it was weak to sneaky pebbles? Yeah, that could pose an issue.

Its just like the unfortunate tale of zekrom in ubers. He is really strong, but his two stab moves are a gamble because pdon is immune to bolt strike, can KO with p blades, and if you go for z outrage/outrage then xern can come in and kill you for free.
Its a very hard mon to make put in work just because of the rampant type advantages in the tier. The same thing would happen to golisopod.
Sure if pdon wasn't around it might claim a KO, but then yveltal comes in and its night-night or gengar comes to disable you and its once again time for bed.
