LGPE is better than gen 7 IMO

My background is such. I started in Gen 5 because I never had access to the first 4. I always wanted to play Pokemon, but had to admire it from a far. Going as far as looking up pokedex entries on my family computer.

Gen 5 and 6 gave me some awesome memories. 5 being where I started, and 6 being my first hype season. But 7 just moved so slow, and relied too much on characters. Which the story and human characters have always been super boring too me. The new mon were ok but ehh.

Now LGPE? I somehow find this game harder than Sun and Moon. Not BW or XY by a long shot, but yeah holy shit.

I don't know if me saying LGPE is better than SM is saying more about how good LGPE is or how much I don't like SM.

Anyways, LGPE is definitely a different and dumbed down experience, yet it feels relaxing.

What do you think /vp?

I can't say if it's worse than Sun/Moon because I've never played it and I absolutely fucking loathed Sun and Moon.
It has less cutscenes, I'm assuming, but it still has an abundance of them (which arguably look worse, or at best, just as bad)
On one hand, you can argue gen 7 is easier because you can use Z-moves, but on the other hand, LGPE gives you your Pikachu/Eevee partner, which are both absurdly powerful, arguably much more abusable than Z-moves.
LGPE has a couple of inherent downsides, though; it's a remake of a game everyone's already played; the extent of new content is pretty much just the masters, which seemed fairly lazy; on the other hand, I like that idea more than Sun/Moon's insultingly lazy endgame AKA literally just the battle tree and a small booth beside it, but then you can still argue that you also get to catch the UBs at the end. Also, LGPE doesn't have a battle tower; not that the battle tower is particularly fantastic, but it's still something Sun/Moon hold over LGPE.
LGPE also has an extremely bland artstyle. One part of this is just that the graphics are extremely underwhelming for a Switch game (and that's saying a lot) and look closer to the Gamecube pokemon games than anything else. Plus there's just the fact that you're not visiting any new locations. Also, they removed the Battle Safari; again, some people might like that, but I still argue it's less content.
tl;dr There's a fair argument for LGPE being better or worse than the gen 7 games, but either way they're both extreme low points in the series.

I love the simple art style. And whenever I play LGPE I try not to use Pikachu or Eevee to make the game a bit more challenging. If I wind up having to use them I consider it a loss lol

Having started with Pokemon Blue over 20 years ago, I agree completely. I had a great time with LGPE, whereas gen 7 was by far the generation I put the least amount of time into because of how much I didn't like it.

I don't get though how anyone thinks going through Kanto a 5th time but with the weakest gameplay yet is better than gen 7

I should have specified battle mechanics, although small and limited dex is a big issue too
I hates catching pokemon in it, I feel like not only being able to rapidly catch everything but being encouraged to cheapened the experience

SM was such a disappointment that I skipped USUM.

LGPE is not exactly my cup of tea, but it felt refreshing after SM.

I hate some features of LGPE, like every menu (general/items/boxes), and the absence of wild battles. Also I found it really easy, but the existence of some storger trainers once in a while kinda made up for that.

But in the end I actually enjoyed that game, and I think it had a lot of soul in it.
